Brake Hold Hrv
This video shows how it works and how to engage the brake hold feature each time you drive.
To turn the feature on, push the button on the center console located behind the Electric Parking Brake switch. To engage Automatic Brake Hold, just press down on the brake until the vehicle comes to a stop ; the brake pressure will be held for up to 10 minutes.

The Feature: The electric parking brake with automatic brake hold is standard on every HR-V trim .
So, if it is pressed while driving, the next time you come to a complete stop you can remove your foot from the brake and your car will stay put until you press the accelerator, or put your foot on the brake and press the Brake Hold again.
Setting and releasing the parking brake is a snap with this feature. And when engaged, the automatic brake hold feature will maintain brake pressure – even after the brake pedal is released – until the accelerator is pressed .

The BRAKE HOLD indicator appears in the instrument panel. 2. With the shift lever in Drive (D) or Neutral (N), press the brake pedal and come to a complete stop. The HOLD indicator appears, and brake hold is applied. Release the brake pedal. Press the accelerator pedal (or shift into a gear and release the clutch pedal for manual transmission) to cancel brake hold and start moving.
You may hear an operating noise if the vehicle moves while the automatic brake hold system is in operation . Fasten your seat belt properly, then start the engine. Press the automatic brake hold button.
Once activated, automatic brake hold maintains braking pressure when the driver applies the brakes , such as in stop-and-go traffic, and releases the brakes when the driver applies the accelerator.
From the owner's Guide: Automatic Brake Hold Maintains rear brake hold even after the brake pedal is released . Make sure the vehicle is on and your seat belt is fastened when operating this feature.
Yep, one of the benefits of brake hold is to have the HRV remain in “D”. But remember Brake Hold goes away if you remove your seat belt or ten minutes or so continuously have elapsed on Brake Hold
